Step-by-Step Guide to Checking Transmission Fluid 

Follow these steps when checking transmission fluid:

1. Turn your engine on for a few minutes to warm it up before proceeding.
2. Put your car in park before opening the hood.
3. Locate the transmission fluid dipstick. On front-wheel-drive cars, you should find it to the right of the oil dipstick. Check your owner’s manual if you don’t see it.
4. Remove the dipstick and touch the fluid. Move it around between your thumb and forefinger and look at the color. It should be almost clear, with a slightly pink hue. If it looks dirty or smells burnt, take it to the Major World service center for replacement.
5. Wipe off the dipstick with an old rag. Then reinsert it back into your car. Pull it out again and recheck the level. If it’s under the “full” mark, add more transmission fluid until it’s full again. Be careful not to overfill it.
